Botanic Book respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use the Botanic Book mobile application, how that information is used, and the third-party services used by the App.
Botanic Book does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name or email address in order to use the App.
Information Stored on Your Device
Most Botanic Book content and personal app data is stored locally on your device.
This may include:

Favorite plants

Personal plant notes

Custom plant records

App preferences such as language and appearance settings

Local purchase entitlement status used to provide the Remove Ads experience
This information is not uploaded to a Botanic Book account or synchronized to a Botanic Book server.
You can remove locally stored information through the available app controls or by uninstalling the App.
Plant Catalog and Botanical Information
Botanic Book contains a botanical reference database with information about more than 30,000 plant species.
Information such as botanical characteristics, native status, and geographic distribution is reference data included with the App or obtained from botanical source material. It is not based on your current physical location.
The current version of Botanic Book does not request or use your device's precise location for plant browsing or distribution information.
Plant Identification
Plant Identification is currently available on iPhone and iPad.
If you choose to use Plant Identification, the App may request permission to:

Take a photo using your camera

Select an existing photo from your photo library
Plant identification is performed directly on your device using an on-device machine learning model.
Botanic Book does not upload the photo you select or capture to a Botanic Book server for plant classification.
The identification model may need to be downloaded before the feature can be used offline. When downloading the model, the hosting provider may receive standard network information such as an IP address as part of the download request.
Camera and photo library access is optional and is only used when you choose to use the relevant feature.
Analytics
Botanic Book uses Google Firebase Analytics to help understand how the App is used and to improve features, usability, and reliability.
Analytics data may include information such as:

Anonymous or pseudonymous installation identifiers
Botanic Book is designed not to send the following content through its custom analytics events:

Crash Reporting
Botanic Book uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to detect crashes and technical problems.

Other diagnostic information required to investigate a crash
Crashlytics is used only to improve the stability and reliability of the App.
Botanic Book does not intentionally include your personal notes, search text, selected photos, or payment details in crash reports.
Advertising
Botanic Book uses Google AdMob to display advertisements to users who have not purchased Remove Ads.
Google and its advertising partners may process information required to provide, measure, secure, and personalize or limit advertising. Depending on your device, region, privacy choices, and applicable law, this may include information such as:

Where required, Botanic Book uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present privacy and consent choices before requesting advertisements.
Depending on your choices and region, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, limited, or otherwise served according to Google's applicable consent rules. Google's UMP is specifically designed to manage these privacy choices and whether ads may be requested.
Where available, you may review or change advertising privacy choices from the privacy options provided within the App.
Users who purchase Remove Ads will no longer be shown Botanic Book banner advertisements while the entitlement remains valid.
In-App Purchases
Botanic Book offers a non-consumable Remove Ads purchase.
Purchases are processed by:

Botanic Book does not receive or store your credit card number, bank details, or other payment credentials.
The App may receive purchase status, product identifiers, transaction information, or ownership information from Apple or Google as necessary to:

Payment processing is governed by Apple or Google's own privacy policies and terms.
External Links
Botanic Book may allow you to open external websites, such as Wikipedia, for additional plant information.
When you choose to open an external website, that website may collect information according to its own privacy policy. Botanic Book does not control the privacy practices of external websites.

Botanic Book is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information directly to us through an account, registration form, or similar feature.

Data Security
We take reasonable measures to limit the information processed by the App and to avoid transmitting user-generated botanical content where it is not required.
However, no electronic transmission, device storage system, or third-party service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Data Retention
Local Botanic Book data remains on your device until you delete it through the App, replace the App's local data, or uninstall the App.
Information processed by Firebase, AdMob, Apple, Google Play, or other third-party services is retained according to those providers' respective policies and service configurations.

Depending on your platform and region, you may be able to control privacy-related processing by:
